We are seeking High Energy, Positive individuals that like to make customers smile. A Little Bit of This N That Bakery is located at 4938 Windsor Hill in Windcrest, TX.

A Lil Bit of This N That Bakery is a family bakery that serves a variety of pastries, coffee cakes, pies, cakes, cookies, and scratch-made bread every single day. We are looking for someone who is hard-working that will craft and serve up each of our freshly made menu items with a smile.

This position requires excellent time management skills and the ability to work quickly and well under pressure.

JOB SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

-Creativity:Pastry chefs are often in charge of creating new and innovative breads and desserts that will bring in customers. Knowledge of ingredients and how to use them in a creative way will serve you well.

-Leadership Skills:Pastry chefs oversee the pastry staff of a kitchen. Being a good leader, who can assign tasks, hire the right people, motivate workers in a high stress environment will help immensely.

-Hand-Eye Coordination:Pastry chefs work with knives, icing bags and other precision tools and must have excellent technique when cutting and preparing food. Hand-eye coordination is needed.

-Sense of Taste and Smell:Delicious food brings in customers. Pastry chefs are the last line of defense to make sure each piece of food is safe, prepared correctly and tasty.

-Time Management Skills:Kitchens get busy quickly, food can get ruined easily if you cannot manage your time. Wonderful time management will help you avoid burned or spoiled food and angry customers.

-Business Acumen:Pastry chefs must understand the restaurant business. This means balancing expenses with profits, managing staff, minimizing waste, and more.

Responsibilities and Duties

The Head Pastry Chef’s duties include but are not limited to:

-Manage a crew of 1-2 pastry chefs in the daily production of pastries.
Y-ou must be able to follow instructions and corporate guidelines and recipes to meet exact standards
-This is a high-volume production environment and you must have a high sense of urgency.
-Monitor stocks for baking ingredients such as flour, sugar etc. and create an order list
-Bake and decorate cakes in traditional buttercream with small uses of fondant.
-Ensure all items are up to a consistent standard and quality.
-Assist and take orders from customers both in person and over the phone.
-Handle cash and card transactions with customers using cash register.
-Prepare doughs, fillings, batters, icings and other components by measuring or weighing ingredients using graduated containers or scales to ensure uniformity.
-Use tools such as hand mixers, electric mixers and cooking machinery to blend together ingredients to create high-quality baked goods.
-Cook prepared dough in ovens or on grills as needed, using molds, pans or sheets, depending on the proper baking technique for the item.
-Decorate cakes, pastries and other baked goods, including custom-made decorations for birthdays, weddings and other celebrations.
-Coordinate deliveries to the bakery and buy necessary ingredients to ensure a fully stocked kitchen to reduce any downtime during the day.
-Perform routine checks on raw materials to ensure they adhere to high-quality standards and are not expired or damaged.
-Inspect baked goods to ensure they are of the highest quality, and remove any damaged items before they reach the display case.
-Adjust the amount of ingredients, the oven temperatures, conveyor speeds and humidity as needed so that all products come out as expected.

Qualifications and Skills

-High school required.
-Must have 2-3 years of pastry and baking experience.
-Must have 2-3 years decorating experience\
-Must be quick with hands and be able to multi-task.
-Must be able to lift 50 lbs above waist.
-Must pay attention to detail and follow corporate recipes and guidelines.
-Must be able and willing to maintain a clean working environment.
-Must be available to work between the hours of 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM(Tuesday-Saturday).
