Department Summary
Information Services (IS) is the central information technology unit at the University of Oregon and provides wide-ranging services to campus. Information Services consists of four major functional areas: Customer Experience, which serves as the key contact point for interactions with campus clients and customers; Applications & Middleware, which manages and supports applications, integration services, identity management and data management; Information Security, which helps protect virtual or physical information; and Technology Infrastructure, which provides administration and support for the software, hardware, and services needed to support the campus IT environment. Information Services also includes the Advanced Network Technology Center. IS works closely with the Network for Education and Research in Oregon.

Position Summary
Reporting to the Business Intelligence Manager, the Data Analyst will design, implement, deploy and support enterprise-level business intelligence and analytics services in conjunction with other members of the team. The demands for trusted institutional data are exponentially rising as complex data analytics inform institutional decisions and planning. This position provides complex data analysis, data pipelines, report development and maintenance, dashboard development, and training for enterprise-level Integrated Data and Reporting (IDR) services. The incumbent will utilize an understanding of Business Intelligence concepts and supporting technologies. They will engage in data analysis, report development, and/or dashboarding tools (e.g. Cognos, Power BI, Tableau, Crystal Reports, Google Data Studio, Business Objects, etc.)

This position functions within a team to initiate, promote and coordinate activities to foster growth within the university analytics community. The Data Analyst works closely with academic and administrative units to analyze needs related to data and reporting and develops appropriate solutions. This position also responds to and resolves end-user requests/issues, participates in end-user support and training activities, and acts in the role of an analyst to define and meet university analytics needs.

The Data Analyst will engage in software development activities like source code control, issue tracking, and quality assurance.

Minimum Requirements
This classification requires a basic foundation of knowledge and skills in systems analysis and related programming support functions generally obtained by a bachelor's degree in computer science or an equivalent amount of training and applied experience.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with IBM Cognos or MS Power BI
• Experience developing in cloud data services (Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS, Google Cloud, etc.)
• Experience with higher education ERP solutions; such as, Banner, PeopleSoft, etc.
• Experience with direct query languages and tools such as SQL
• Experience analyzing and reporting on Financial, HR or Student Information System data
• Experience with ITIL or ITSM
