Job Overview

The successful incumbent will be required independently of instructions to plan, perform all operations necessary to set-up/operate turning/non-turning machines for all purposes to which the machines are/or may be adapted judging the suitability of cutting tools, work-holders, attachments and accessories, taking necessary initial & corrective action to maintain the required degree of dimensional accuracy & surface finish of components machined.

Essential Responsibilities

• Work to blueprints, sketches, design drawings, sample parts & other like information, oral orders & to required tolerances

• As required, perform tool proving, training functions related to all turning and/or non-turning operations

• Mount, align and secure work-holders, work, tool-holder, attachments, NC/CNC tape & programs, precision measuring attachments, indicators

• Check dimensions of work

• Work to general plan of operation: blueprints, sketches, process sheets, operation sheets, tool lay-out chart

Skills

• Completion of 4-year apprenticeship or combination of 4 years work experience or industry courses in machining (eligible for Trade Cert)

• Trade Certification

• 4-5 years experience as a Machinist, Tool & Die maker, or machining tool operator

• Work experience in Aerospace preferred

• Must be able to obtain and maintain Controlled Goods and Contract Security clearances

Technical skills

• Ability to work to blueprints, sketches, design drawings, sample parts, and other like information

• Ability to perform tool proving and training functions related to all turning and/or non-turning operations

• Ability to mount, align, and secure work-holders, work, tool-holder, attachments, NC/CNC tape & programs, precision measuring attachments, indicators

• Ability to check dimensions of work
